Building an opt-in list by using a squeeze page may not be new to some, but I had hardly heard of the term prior to last January. What is a squeeze page? It is a special sales page designed for the primary purpose of getting the reader to give you their name and email information in order for you to put them on your mailing list for future offers. In return you offer them access to a membership site or give them a free e-book or product. You can have your own links embedded in the e-book that you give away for free. This is called viral marketing. The ideal squeeze page will consist of a compelling heading in large letters surrounded by quotes, followed by a bullet list of benefits. There is no certain length for this type of sales page however many folks including me hate the “never ending sales page”. The last element of the squeeze page will be the sign-up form or button to click to go to a sign-up page. A second message sent to the sign-up to confirm the signup is recommended so you can never be accused of sending spam. Folks like to feel that they are part of something bigger, so many will be happy to sign up to get access to a free membership site. Providing a blog or forum for them to gather and communicate will add to the feeling of the site being inclusive. You need to be on their level and provide information that they are seeking and gradually you can lead them in the direction that you are going. This is true of membership sites that have tutorials or learning steps for their members. You will need to provide real value to the newsletter that you send to those that sign up from your squeeze page. Many will not purchase from you the first time, but you can send them an offer occasionally within the newsletter. Don’t try to giveaway a free product in each newsletter, because many will sign up just to get the free product rather than actually reading your newsletter. The end result is an email list building technique that works. If you are providing quality material in your membership site and the newsletter, then you can build a customer base that you can rely on over and over again. The best kind of email list is those that have purchased some product within your niche.
