Although you make use of the good factors like basics of SEO for offsite optimization and meta tags for onsite optimization, you may not have everything. It's more than just doing the dos and best practices of SEO, you should also avoid some aspects to make your web pages rank higher in search engines. Below are the 5 don'ts you need to stay away from to improve search engine ranking. 1. Readdress To Another Domain Redirecting to another domain is not a 100% guarantee that you'll be banned from search engines. But it is a very usual spammer tactic used in combination with doorways pages and cloaking. You need to write a 301 HTTP redirect and not a 302 or meta refresh once you set up a redirect to new domain. By using this, the search engines are instructed that the readdressing is permanent and they must change the domain in their directory. 2. Readdressing To Fresh Domains Since this trick is commonly used by spammers, be careful and it's a very good idea to avoid doing it. Search engines can be very hard to get back into if your site is banned by mistake. 3. Connecting Invisible Images Images that are 1x1 pixels in size and cannot be seen by the naked eye on a Web page are called invisible images. Since the rankings of a web page is based on the number of links, linking images concealed from the customers are created. 4. Linking Single Pixel Images This is similar to hiding text or displaying different content to search engines than to your customers. Don't assume that search engines can't read CSS or HTML tags that resize full-sized images. If you do this to optimize your pages, your site will be banned. 5. Include Invisible Text On Your Pages Hiding text by making it the same color as the background color may fool your customers, but it won't fool search engines. Another variation of this is where you make the font size so small that it's unreadable by the naked eye.
